Haseom is an island belonging to Byeonsan Peninsula National Park in Buan, Jeonbuk, located about 2km from Gosapo Beach and about 1km from Seongcheon Port. The island's name uses the lotus character 'Ha (荷)' because it looks like a lotus floating on the sea, and sometimes the shrimp character 'Ha (鰕)' because it resembles a curled shrimp. Over 200 species of plants grow on Haseom, and visitors can enjoy the scent of pine and the pine breeze from the dense pine forest. On the south side of the island, there is a small white sand beach where one can enjoy a quiet swim during summer. Currently, the island is owned by the Wonbulgyo foundation and used as a marine training center; entry is allowed only for reserved Wonbulgyo followers or accompanying general visitors. When the tidal path opens, visitors can walk to the island and experience the mudflat.
