Ansimsah is an old temple belonging to the Jogye Order, located in Jeolgol, Sadong-ri, at the western foot of Guryongsan Mountain. According to the Ansimsah historic site chronology, which was displayed until around 1982, the temple was built in 775 (the 11th year of King Hyegong of Silla) by the monk Jinpyo, and was named Ansimsah to mean providing peace of mind to numerous disciples. Later, it was restored by Wonmyeong Guksa in 1325 (the 12th year of King Chungsuk of Goryeo), and the Daeungjeon was rebuilt in 1613 (the 5th year of King Gwanghaegun of Joseon) and repaired again in 1626 (the 4th year of King Injo). This corresponds roughly with the dates of artifacts unearthed inside the temple. Existing buildings include the Daeungjeon, Yeongsanjeon, and two temple lodges. The Daeungjeon, designated a treasure in 1980, has an unknown construction date but was repaired in 1672. Inside are the triad Buddha statues and the Ansimsah Yeongsanhoe Hanging Buddhist Banner, designated a national treasure. Yeongsanjeon, built in 1613, is a building three bays wide and two bays deep and has been designated a Chungcheongbuk-do Tangible Cultural Property. Additionally, Ansimsah houses the Sejon Saritap and Sejon Saribi, designated Chungcheongbuk-do Tangible Cultural Properties in 1976, as well as a seated stone Buddha statue and stone pagoda fragments from the Silla period.
