This place is a historic market in the Seocheon downtown area where a five-day market has been held since the Joseon Dynasty. However, the market was originally located in a different place. As the population and merchants increased, the commercial area expanded and moved to the current location. Therefore, the old market place is called Gujangteo and the current market is called Saejangteo. Especially in the 21st century, a modern specialty market with two above-ground floors was constructed, featuring a seafood market on the first floor and restaurants on the second floor, harmonizing with the existing market for greater convenience. The Seocheon region, where the West Sea and Geum River meet, has been rich in seafood since ancient times. Visitors can directly see and taste these seafood products here. The market is located in the Seocheon downtown area, with easy access via Janghang Line’s Seocheon Station and Seocheon bus stops nearby. Nearby attractions include the National Institute of Ecology and Heirishan Mountain.
