The coastline of Seocheon, extending 72.5km from around the dam near the Geumgang Hagutdung seawater side to Busabangjoje, is a ria coastline featuring mudflats, sandy beaches, and capes harmonized with pine forests. Notable sites include Chunjangdae Beach, Hongwon Port, Maryang-ri Camellia Forest, Maryang Port, Dodun-ri seaweed farms, Wolhaseong mudflats, Seondori mudflats, Biin Beach, the unique Galkmok village with sandy beaches on one side and mudflats on the other, Janghang Pine Forest Natural Recreation Forest known for its sandy beaches, and Janghang Port. These areas form a natural treasure trove and a center for Seocheon's marine products production. Seocheon's coast features a large tidal range with shallow waters and gentle sandy beaches exposing over 2km of shoreline at low tide, making it an ideal natural environment for family vacations. Among these, Wolhaseong, Seondori, and Jangpo-ri have especially well-developed mudflats. At Seondori, countless tiny crabs about the size of beans emerge slowly as the tide recedes, bustling across the expansive mudflats to feed and build their homes. The small grains of earth around the crabs’ holes are crab soil, illustrating ecologically that "the mudflats act as the kidneys of nature, performing a purification function and living breathingly." The living mudflats of Seocheon serve as ecological learning sites for children and provide adults with the pleasure of clam digging and abundant nature-themed tourism. Seocheon's mudflats are particularly rich in razor clams. Even without clam digging tools, visitors can buy hoes at nearby village shops to experience the mudflats. Many get so absorbed that they fail to notice the incoming tide. Additionally, there are various clams such as brackish clams with refreshing broth, delicious grilled mussels, and chewy white-shelled stone clams, all of which can be caught in Seocheon's living mudflats.
Chunjangdae Beach originally had a nearby bathing area at Dongbaekjeong, but when the Seocheon Thermal Power Plant was built there in the 1980s, landowner Min Wanki created several bungalows here and named the place Chunjangdae after his pen name Chunjang. Another theory says it was named Chunjangdae after the long stretches of camellia flowers. This beach features a gentle 1.5-degree slope and clear, calm waters, with dense pine and acacia forests widely spread, making it excellent for camping and relaxation. There is a plaza in the center used for cultural activities. Besides swimming, at low tide visitors can walk to nearby islands and catch seafood in the mudflats. The natural scenery is also a highlight. The area has concentrated camping grounds, auto camping sites, pensions, and motels, and nearby attractions like Hongwon Port, Busabangjoje, and Busaho make it good for combined tourism.
