Hyosan Seowon, located in Chahwang-myeon, Sancheong-gun, was established in 1991 to honor Kim Jasu, Kim Yeong-yu, and Kim Sang-rye of the Gyeongju Kim clan. After the Hong Gyeong-rae Rebellion, they endured bitter pain and hardships in the mountain village, showing extraordinary filial piety and reverence for ancestors. They lived as puremen who avoided official positions, embracing nature and seclusion. This Confucian institute, with unwavering principles and etiquette, was supported by the descendants, especially by Sehwan, who aided its completion. The Seowon complex consists of nine buildings, including the main four-kan Hyosan Seowon with a hipped-and-gabled roof, Gyeongmosa, Geunsamun, Sangdeokmun, Bongwolru, Sammukjae, Naeseongmun, Chungangjeongsa, and Bokwonmun.
