Jecheon Cheongpung Hanbyeokru | 観光地情報 | K-Travel Mate

A pavilion located within the Cheongpung Cultural Heritage Complex, it is an architectural structure of great historical value. It is one of the three major winged pavilions of the Joseon Dynasty and the only existing building of its style, with a name plaque handwritten by the scholar Song Si-yeol from Wooam. In the 4th year of King Chungsuk of Goryeo (1317), a monk from Cheongpung named Cheonggong became a state monk. When Cheongpung-hyeon was promoted to a county, Hanbyeokru was built east of the guesthouse to commemorate this. The structure consists of a two-story pavilion with four rooms on the front and three on the side, connected to a stepped winged building with three rooms on the front and one on the side. It was said to have plaques by Song Si-yeol and Kim Su-jeung, and a nameboard by Kim Jeong-hui inscribed with [Cheongpung Hanbyeokru], but these are no longer extant. It is a representative example of a Joseon pavilion building with a small annex beside the main building. Along with Miryang Yeongnamru and Namwon Gwanghallu, it features a small annex beside the main building and has the simplest and most elegant exterior of the three. It was restored to its original condition in 1875 after being damaged by a great flood in 1872. However, in 1985, due to the construction of Chungju Dam and subsequent flooding of the area, it was relocated and restored at the Cheongpung Cultural Heritage Complex.
