It is a key transportation hub where the Gunsan Daegu line and Namhae Wonju line (old routes 26 and 19) intersect, located near the border of Gyeongsangnam-do and Jeollabuk-do. Twenty years ago, on the Janggyejang days, many people from nearby Gyeongsangnam-do Hamyang and Seosang as well as Jeollabuk-do Muju, Anseong, Jinan, Namwon, Geumsan, and Jeonju gathered to create a bustling market. Nowadays, as commercial areas have developed regionally, only some from Jinan, parts of Anseong, and local residents use the market, so its size has decreased. However, the livestock market still thrives. The traditional old blacksmith shop, operated by the third generation, is a famous attraction of Janggye Market.
