Cheongju Sinjeondong Elevated House | 観光地情報 | K-Travel Mate

This house was built in 1926, and the upper beam inscription is written on the main ridge beam of the inner house. The linear inner house, sarangchae (men's quarters), and haengnangchae (servants' quarters) are arranged in a 'ㄷ' shape. Looking at the structure, the inner house stands on a three-tiered jangdaeseok foundation with round base stones supporting square pillars. Large main beams hang above the pillars, topped by secondary beams. Above the secondary beams, lotus flower brackets are erected, connecting the main ridge beam and transverse beam, a rare technique in houses. Though the building is not very old, it well represents the traditional residential architectural style with fully equipped inner house, sarangchae, and haengnangchae.
