Gakwonsa Temple, located in Cheonan-si, Chungcheongnam-do, was founded in 1975 by Buddhist devotees and many others with sincere donations to pray for the reunification of North and South Korea. The temple houses a large bronze Buddha statue that is 15 meters tall, 30 meters in circumference, with ears measuring 175 cm and fingernails 30 cm, weighing 60 tons. Facing west with Taejosan’s main peak behind it, the Buddha greets many beings with a compassionate smile. On the left side of the pedestal is the largest Daeungbojeon (Main Buddha Hall) and temple quarters in the country, arranged harmoniously, making the temple a famous prayer site for many. Additionally, Gakwonsa is well-known for its double-flowered cherry blossom spots. It features not only abundant double cherry blossoms but also single cherry blossoms and weeping cherry blossoms in full bloom. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful scenery of cherry blossoms blooming profusely in front of the bronze Buddha statue.

Cheonan Bongseonhonggyeongsa Galgibi (National Treasure) is located at 320 Daeheung-ri, Seonghwan-eup, Cheonan-si, Chungnam. It is a monument erected in 1026 (the 17th year of King Hyeonjong's reign) to commemorate the temple Bongseonhonggyeongsa, which was built in 1021 (the 12th year of King Hyeonjong's reign). The site where the temple stood was a key transportation hub connecting Honam and Hanyang. There was a pond full of reeds, and bandits were frequent because it was isolated from civilian houses. Therefore, King Hyeonjong built the Bongseonhonggyeongsa temple here to spread Buddhist teaching and establish the Gwangyeontonghwawon lodging for safe travel. The inscription on the Galgibi monument was composed by Choe Chung and the calligraphy was done by Baek Hyun-rye.
