Hyanggyo were traditional local educational institutions established to honor Confucian sages, cultivate talented individuals in the local community, and promote good customs. The exact founding date of Changnyeong Hyanggyo is unknown, but it was rebuilt once in the first year of King Hyojong of Joseon and underwent several restorations thereafter. In 1987, the East and West Dormitories were restored, completing its current form. The space of the Hyanggyo is divided into two areas: education and ceremonies. Myeongnyundang, where scholars study, and the East and West Dormitories for daily life serve the educational function, while Daeseongjeon, housing memorial tablets of Confucius and eminent scholars, and the East and West Ceremonial Halls serve the ceremonial function. Changnyeong Hyanggyo is arranged in the Jeonhak-humyo style, placing the educational area in front and the ceremonial area behind, and its location on a steep slope expresses the authoritative character of the Hyanggyo.
Seokbinggo is an ice storage warehouse showcasing the wisdom of ancestors who harvested ice in the cold winter and preserved it for use through the hot summer. According to a stele remaining on the right side of the ice reservoir, inscribed with '숭정기원후재임술이월초일일여사월초십일필,' it was constructed in 1742 by local governor Shin Seo and others. Based on its architectural style and the customs of storing ice, it is presumed to have been built during the Joseon Dynasty. Changnyeong Seokbinggo has almost entirely preserved its earth mound; externally, it looks like a massive ancient burial mound and is constructed north-south at a right angle to the stream flowing behind it. The entrance to the ice chamber is located on the south side, with large rectangular stones laid sideways on both sides to form the ceiling, which includes two ventilation holes connecting to the outside. The walls are made of rough stones but their surfaces have been chiseled flat to form smooth inner walls. This architectural style is identical to representative Seokbinggo such as those in Gyeongju and Andong, though Changnyeong Seokbinggo is somewhat smaller in scale.
Yeongsan National Defense Park was designated as an urban park in 1973 and was reorganized as the nation's first defense park on May 31, 1982. Although not large in scale, it is one of Korea's notable defense parks. It is a sacred place for the three major national defense struggles, featuring the Imjin War Defense Memorial Tower, the March 1st Movement Beacon and Monument, and the Korean War Yeongsan District Battle Monument. Behind the Imjin War Defense Memorial Tower, a waterwheel is turning. This area is commemorated as the first site of the March 1st Movement in Gyeongsangnam-do by Yeongsan County, where an annual March 1st ceremony is held. The rainbow-shaped bridge at the park entrance, Man-nyeon-gyo (Ten Thousand Year Bridge), is a treasure showing the construction techniques of arched bridges (hong-gae-gyo) in the southern region during the late Joseon Dynasty, with significant academic value. Nearby attractions include Yeonji Pond, Yeongsan Seokbinggo, Yeongsan Mineral Spring, Yeongchuksanseong Fortress, Yeongsan Eupseong Site, Yeongsan Beophwaam Multi-Story Stone Pagoda, Bugok Hot Spring Tourist Zone, Upo Wetland Ecological Park, and Hwawangsan County Park.
