Haseom Observatory offers a panoramic view of Haseom (荷島), named for its resemblance to a lotus flower floating on water. Also called Ha-seom (蝦島) because it resembles a shrimp (새우), the island is famous for Korea's version of the parting of the Red Sea miracle, where a tidal path opens twice a month. Around the 1st and 15th days of the lunar calendar during low tide, visitors can see the wide-open sky and the mysterious tidal road stretching about 2 km from the observatory. Known for its abundant clams, the area is famously described as 'half mudflat, half clams.' The observatory's elevated location provides clear sky views and is a notable spot to enjoy the sunset at Oebyeonsan, one of the three great sunsets of the West Sea. It is part of Byeonsan Masil-gil course 3, Jeokbyeok-gang Sunset Road (Seongcheon → Haseom Observatory → Jeokbyeok-gang → Chaeseok-gang → Gyeokpo Port, 9.8 km, 2 hours 30 minutes). Upon arriving here, visitors can take memorable photos with Haseom as a backdrop.
